About those waffles

What exactly are Liège waffles, you ask? And how do you even pronounce that name?? Fear not — we have answers!

You probably already know about Belgian waffles. But as it turns out, there are actually two kinds of Belgian waffles:

Brussels waffles are what we tend to know as “Belgian waffles” in the U.S. They’re made with batter and come in all kinds of tasty variations.

Liège (lee-AYZH) waffles might be cooked on the same waffle irons, but they’re a different thing entirely. Made with a yeasted brioche dough — yes, dough! — they contain pearl sugar that caramelizes as they cooked to create a sweet, crunchy exterior while the interior stays soft. Call us controversial, but we don’t think they need a drop of syrup.

Fruit, whipped cream, hazelnut spread…well, that’s a different story!

We take the European inspiration for what we do (maybe a little too) seriously. And we like the idea of fair and transparent pricing. That’s why we include tax and tips in our prices. You know what you’re paying and our staff know they’re making a good wage.

We have more coming soon!

Though we have intentionally started with a very small menu, we have several new things in the works that are coming very soon — we’ll announce new items as they arrive.

High on the list are loose leaf tea service, some non-waffle items like overnight oats and chia seed puddings, and a few waffle variations. Savory waffles? We hear you! Gluten-free? Vegan waffles? Watch this space…
